Camping at Wrights Lake

Alison waking up

Consistent with my usual luck, I picked the one week in July when it was unseasonably cool in California ... only in the 70s in Sacramento, where temperatures are usually over 100. Sacramento is near sea-level, so at 7000 feet, it is downright chilly. Our neighbors wear their parkas during the day ... many folks retire early, and get up late. Here, Alison doesn't want to leave the warmth of the tent and sleeping bag.

Wrights Lake has a large population of waterfowl. Here, a mama duck takes two ducklings out for a swim.

Below are John and Alison posing on the lakeshore.
